Spawn Labs Previews New Remote PC Gaming Products at Game Developers Conference 2010; Announces Remote Gaming Latency Reduced to 60 Milliseconds: Spawn Labs, the developer of the first peer-to-peer real-time video processing cloud, today announced that it is previewing its new remote PC gaming products at booth #3012 at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco March 11-13. With the latest updates to its software, Spawn Labs also has reduced the end-to-end latency of remote gaming sessions to just 60 milliseconds.

The Spawn HD-720 today gives gamers the freedom to play their Xbox 360, Xbox, Playstation 3, Playstation 2, and Gamecube console video games – either alone or with friends, at home or on the road — from a network-connected computer as if they were sitting in front of their console and TV. The PC additions to the Spawn Labs product line extend remote gaming support to high-end gaming PC’s, like those from Alienware, Falcon Northwest, Velocity Micro, and iBuyPower.

“We are excited to show off the new remote PC gaming capabilities of our product line,” said David Wilson, president & CEO of Spawn Labs. “Our peer-to-peer approach to real-time video processing in the cloud is unique in comparison to OnLive, oToy, and Gakai, and we believe the peer-to-peer approach offers major advantages relative to the data center model advocated by these other companies. There are a myriad of potential applications of our peer-to-peer real-time video processing cloud platform, and this is the next application headed to market.”

Some of the most popular uses of the Spawn Labs’ current console products are:

* When at home, if someone else is watching the TV to which the game console is attached, the gamer can go to a different room in the house and play from a computer across their home network with no Internet latency and no bandwidth constraints.
* When at home, a gamer can play a game natively on their console and TV, while one or more friends play together in the same multi-player game session from their homes on a computer across the Internet.
* When travelling, gamers can play their console games on a laptop anywhere they can get a broadband Internet connection.
* When at home, a gamer can invite friends to watch their live game play sessions, in real-time across the Internet.
* Whether at home or on the road, the gamer can capture high-definition video clips of a game play session to watch and share with others.

“The 60 millisecond end-to-end latency threshold is significant because we are now right on the edge of human perceptibility of any latency whatsoever in the remote game play experience,” said Peter Walker, founder & CTO of Spawn Labs. “And we have clear visibility to driving latency down even further in the first half of this year to the point where latency is not perceptible at all, even for the most demanding twitch games.”

In addition to its consumer product line, Spawn Labs also provides a private version of its solution for use by game developers. Game developers use Spawn Labs products to play and watch the games on console development kits remotely – either individually or in teams – from homes, across campuses, and even across studios on different continents. Spawn Labs products are currently in use at many of the world’s largest game development companies.
